Before entering this competition all students and lecturers must read the rules, which they will find in the rules section of this website, and ensure that they have fully understood them. If any of the rules are unclear then you should contact the organisers (see contacts page) for clarification before entering.
Lecturers should enter students by selecting the most appropriate category from the list below. Please click on the 'Further Details' button under the required category heading to proceed.
Once in the category's sub-page Lecturers can register or login to nominate students.
Categories should be selected according to the subject/s of the project, rather than the subject/s of the student's course. If the student's project does not fit precisely in to one of the available catgeories, then it should be entered into the closest available category.
SET Student of the Year
The most outstanding student is declared the Science, Engineering & Technology Student of the Year.
Lecturer of the Year Award
The Lecturer of the Year Award is given to the lecturer who nominated and taught the overall Student of the Year.

Best Computational Science Student
The term Computational Science, first used by Nobel Physics Prize winner Ken Wilson, refers to those activities in science that exploit computing as their main tool. Projects submitted for the Best Computational Science Student award should therefore involve the application of new computational techniques or the innovative application of known techniques to solve a problem in one of the natural sciences, especially techniques which utilise improvements in computer software, hardware or algorithms.
Normally, students entered for the Best Computational Science Student award will either be studying a subject within the physical or biological sciences and have undertaken a project that involves computation, or will be studying computing or a computing related subject and have developed new computational techniques to solve a problem in the physical or biological sciences.
